GMC Motorized Road Bike

Lets see what happens so far this is my first motorized road bike. The previous one was a mountain bike.

Anyone know where i can get a cheap thumb throttle. I really need one for this setup. The one that mounted on the handle bar doeasnt work to well on this type of bike.

bike looks good, you should be able to find a thumb throttle for a dirt bike or ATV on ebay or whatever. you could switch one of the brakes to be your throttle pull perhaps?

yeah try that. i got a used dirt bike twist throttle and cable for 13.53 on ebay. The throttle fit perfect and the cable worked perfectly with the happytime. it is much easier to twist and ALOT better quality.

pretty cool, i have the same exact bike. i would just cut off 1/2 of a normal brake handle. then u got a redneck thumb throttle.

Heh steel cast motor I just repaired one nice steel barrel... man.. Ill bet he gets a lot of miles outa that 66 or 50. the carb on the one that I repaired needed to be replaced I think someone changed the Jet. all brass on it . also the NT casting is flawless. Same chain tensioner and huge 3/4 gal tank, and pipe too. The one I repaired was a centrifugal Edition from I think Starfire Co. looked to be 5 or 6 years old.

Nice mount.. Nice job all the way around. Do you mind me asking where you got the metal cast engine? I mean it looks like that one is too.

I like this. I have one of these bikes, (with a real handlebar and stem on it, not the goofy 3 piece system they cobbled together to put the gripshifts on).

If you measure the clamp without the shim, it will be the bulge diameter (like 31.8 or something). You can buy a mountain bike handlebar for $5-20 and gripshifts will slip right on. You can use the original road levers on the mtn bars, or get some replacements for $5 (steel "touring" levers, or cantilever mtn bike brake levers) www.niagaracycle.com
