adjusting float level / air ful ratio

I have a 70cc HT kit.

My bike was running badly... vibrated like crazy and it surged at full throttle.

I took the carb apart, retightened everything AND adjusted float level (I bent it so the float would raise a lot more.

Now the bike runs soooo smooth compared to what it was (I think it was running way lean). I also think the pin on the fork (pushes float down) was not in correctly.

One problem I see... the bike only goes 25 mph top speed now... even downhill (GPS verified).

Do you think I am running too rich now? Did I bend the fork float too much you think?

Is there another way to adjust air/fuel ratio?

too rich ??? just maybe

since it appears that this - new problem came up after the other problem was fixed

you don't mention what your top speed used to be ?

maybe try taking float 1/3 to 1/2 back to where it was before adjusting

if this increases your top speed -- you may be getting close to the place known as

THE SWEET SPOT !!!

good luck with that -- and always remember to enjoy yourself when you

When I first got it I wa able to get it to around 30mph on flat ground and 35mph down a hill (scary how much the engine was screaming).

I tried to adjust the fork back a little bit and that did not seem to increase top speed...

My test was run short because the studs on my rear motor mount both snapped off... I heard a TING TING TING on the ground. I am used to hearing things fall off of the bike so I immediately turned around and noticed that it was my rear motor mount bracket and stud on the ground... the other one is nowhere in sight.

well - if you are hitting 25 mph at this time -- you are not off by much

how's that plug looking ??

if it's truly too rich -- should show on the plug

a nice burning plug usually = a great time when

ps -- I see many posting top speeds for level ground and then downhill ???
it's kind of silly -- to me anyway
to push an engine rpms while going downhill
beyond what it can do on the level...
Note -- THIS IS WHEN MANY BLOW UP !!!
