engine starts, engine wont start

ok, thanks for all the help and info in the past. i have a tle43 clone with electric start that ran fine for about 400 miles then it started getting hard to start. i would have to run the starter for a long time and work the throttle to get it to strart. so i got a carb kit and rebuilt the carb, same thing still happens. changed the spark plug with no effect, and yes there is good spark. so now it only starts when it wants to. some times i can go out and it will start right up, run fine, shut it down and not restart. but some times it will restart after running. sometimes it wont start at all. so i have spark, compression gage reads about 135lbs, and my carb is rebuilt. shouldnt it run for me? how can i check if my spark is strong enough once under the preasure of the cylinder? how do i check the coil/magneto? please help as this is my favorite setup to ride. thanks in advance for the help. yes. it has spark every time i check. how much gap should the spark be able to jump? 1/2inch? 1/4inch?

Spark jump, 1/4" or 1/2"?

Not sure, might have to wait for one of the other members to answer that one. Seems to me even if you have a 1/4" jump it should be firing.

yes -- that's plenty jump

you seem to be pretty up on MBs -- so I don't think that it fuel filter

sounds possible like a coil or mag problem
they come in and go out at times

possible small crack in wiring somewhere

I don't like these type of problems
my buddies car is going through the same kind of thing right now
hard to locate -- wish that it would just stop complectly !!!
