I just gotta put this out there. A great guy deserves praise...

I just purchased a clutch actuator upgrade kit from Creative Engineering, and wow, what a fine built billet piece. I can operate and feather the clutch with one finger now. Jim the owner/machinist there is a great guy. He's got more trick mods in the works like a 10,000 rpm HT motor! He took an engine apart and put his guages on the pieces and found the crankshaft counter weights were 15,000ths out of round alone. (no wonder they vibrate) He said he's going to completely revamp the whole shebang and offer em' up. After seeing his shop, I believe him.

here's the website:

Huh. A local seller on fleabay was selling these in Australia for $150.00 - even with our crappy exchange rate thats a heck of a markup!

Sounds like some interesting developments will be forthcoming...

It's good that he designed it properly & that's how it should have been originally, but i don't understand the statement on his website "will no longer have to pedal up to speed before releasing the clutch".
Why won't u have to pedal up to speed;soft clutch/hard clutch, you'll still need that same given amount of speed for the engine to start.

Yeah,
This guy in OZ promised him he could sell a bunch, and when Jim found out what he was marking them up to, he pulled the plug on him. So now Jim has it posted on craigslist for $27.95usd.

What Jim means by that statement is the fact that the motor kit he first recieved was so abrupt in the clutch actuator transition, it was all he could do to let it out from a dead stop without killing the motor. His clutch upgrade kit is totally a new piece with the proper geometry to actually feather out the clutch like a motorcycle. Much much much more control. In my opinion, that was the best $27.95 I've spent in a long time.

I can't wait until he revamps an HT motor to 10,000 rpm and more than twice the hp... can you say incredible hulk happy time?!?!? it'll give the friction boys something to talk about.

So Jim had the same encounter with my favorite Aussie eBay guy.......buwaaahhahahahhaahaa!

I like clutch kit. Nice.

I've heard alot about this clutch actuator, sounds pretty good. And a 10,000rpm Happy time??!! That would be amazing! I knew it was them crankshafts, they are wayy out of balance thats why it is the only engine I know to shake that badly. Ferocious resonance plus rubbish chinese fittings and your just waiting for failures. There are quite a few interesting and exciting developments to the happy time, and about time too seeing as the design has barely changed since the late 60's. A UK dealer has developed and produced a happy time that runs on bio-fuel, and is looking to mass produce in the near future

Yeah, they are crazy bad out of spec, Jim says...
He's going machined billet on much of the internals where he can, I believe. Jim has the capability of making an entire motor from scratch if he wants to. The goal is to be balanced and of high tolerance with upgraded bearings, rings, and such. He has no doubt the HT's are capable of 10,000 rpm and 2/3 more horses at least. Then other things will have to follow suit to match the revamped motor; rejetted or different carb, tuned expansion exhaust, etc.

I can't wait to get one for my 3 speed, jackshafted, chopper Im building.

They probably are capable of 10k rpm when they have been probably fettled and not slapped together any old how.. I know the Fantic engines could spin that speed although they did tend to demolish rings at a fairly impressive rate.

Only thing that slightly worries me is that we have an engine that could give out enough power to be dangerous when mounted to a completely standard bike frame/brakes etc.

Although I have to say the reliability is the one thing that has put me off these in the past.

Jemma xx
