I decided I wanted to buy something from a chinese web supplier... which isnt available in the UK or europe..

Had a look through their site, decided on my choice and ordered it... then on the off chance it was cheaper somewhere else went looking.

Sure enough it was cheaper somewhere else which I found out within 4 hours and emailed the company to cancel my order which had been paid for using paypal... no response...

After 4 days.... and 4 emails they tell me... I cant cancel it because its been shipped... which I know is untrue, because they shipped it today!

which means I may have two of these devices coming, neither of which I can really afford with no real recourse at all except stopping the payment on my card which is harder than getting george bush to think...

be very very careful when dealing with these people since they havent quite caught up with the concept of trading standards or honesty

can you tell I am annoyed?

the website is www.bigboxstore.com by the way

my cousin runs a small business and his customers pay with Pal Pal

when things (ordering) goes wrong -- at least it seems to be fact with my cousin

Pay Pal take the customers side -- and takes the monies OUT of my cousins account...

and as also posted in other threads
credit card companies in times of serious dispute -- will also side with the customer

when my buddy and I owned a bicycle shop -- years ago
when we signed up with the credit card companies -- so as to let customers charge
the credit card companies told us -- in time of dispute -- customer will usually be right

maybe that has changed -- but I must say
a while back an airline company went out of business
wife and I were looking at a couple of thousand dollar loss
after filing the proper papers with our credit card company -- we received a full refund...

don't stress as we -- ride those MB things

Paypal doesn NOT operate that way, mountainman, not anymore. Getting them to stop payment or reverse charges even when you can prove the seller failed to act reasonably or even within their duty is nigh onto impossible. Especially on e-bay purchases.

I think George Bush would have shopped around first before ordering, or at the very least he would have made sure he could cancel/return the item before ordering from another supplier. ;)

Hi Jemma,

I suggest you should shop around first before placing your orders and changing your mind the next day.
I personally worked for one of these companies in China and i know how it works, once you place an order with them, their product managers rush to wholesale markets to purchase the the products for the order and its not very easy to return them back for no good reason.
Maybe you should have just asked if they could provide you with a discount because you found exactly the same product elsewhere. Did that ever crossed your mind?
We just have to be more reasonable in these situations.

Cheers

I don't understand SimpleSimon ?

Pay Pal takes the customers side -- and takes the monies OUT of my cousins account...

yes - my cousin sells promotional goods -- mostly to relators

he has messed up on a couple of orders in the last few months

and Pay Pal -- did take the said monies out of his Pay Pal account

as soon as the relators asked Pay Pal for a refund...

but -- this is just what I was told ???

all I can say is ---------------------------- ride that MB thing

No offense. But you selected the item and paid (at least that's how I'm reading it). Then YOU changed your mind, so somehow the vendor needs to jump through hoops.

I say open your mind and see this from a larger viewpoint. The supplier needs to use his capital to support a negative/reverse paying customer. I'm not saying he shouldn't do it, but to have somebody gripe about it....is really stretching things a bit.

Sorry Jemma. I do feel for you, but when a customer places an order a contract has been established. If one party has second thoughts, then this contract might be re-negotiated. But the burden is not on the party who did not change their mind.
