Longest Living Robin/Subaru

Pesky On-Off Switches

Mike, I only have 1500 mi on mine (GEBE BELT) and 800 on the wifes (Staton friction) and they always start between the first to third pull. The only time I had to
pull it more than 3 times is because I forgot to turn the on/off ignition switch. :)

Thanks graucho. Looks like another good report for Subaru.

About the on-off switch ... I once sold an outboard motor to a friend who told me he cussed me out a little bit when the motor wouldn't start way back in the Canadian boonies. He pulled on it a LONG TIME he said before (you guessed it) he noticed the on-off switch was off. (Technology!)

Happy riding......

There's a bike shop in my area selling a bike already built with a 35cc Subaru on a friction drive setup. Guy in the store says it's good for over 30mph.

I just don't understand that top speed ???

got a big roller on that THING ???

my Robin 35cc was ordered with a 1" roller
but - I do admit - I haven't measured it

it tops out at around 22-23 mph -- checked it many times now ---- 22.5 mph level ground
plus - even if on a slight down hill - at around 25-26 the governor kicks in
mine don't do no 30 much less over 30
but - I also have heard these claims before
maybe I got a slight slower one -- but - love it anyway

it don't matter cause I am happy with the speed
and that little engine runs sooooo sweet...............

as I ride that THING

Yes my roller and speeds are EXACTLY the same as yours. The only
time ive ever hit 30 was in 21st gear pedaling like crazy. Its the perfect
set up for me. I like running around 18-20 anyways.

I'll put that to rest now -- happy with my speed also

thank you terrence

I could have put my wondering thoughts to rest
regarding my top speed
if I would have asked you what your's was doing

and as you say -- 18-20 seems to be perfect for Mountainman
then when I am really hauling mountain rock buns
I hit the big 22.5 and love the fact that I am alive

and riding my MB THING

I've never rode it myself to confirm the speed of course, they could be BS'ing me and it only goes 20 or so......but the Subaru engine got my attention, and I'm pretty sure they'll say anything at this point to sell the bike, it was there BEFORE I built my trailer months ago.........

Subaru makes a 6.0HP OHC engine, and it's supposedly slightly higher RPM than OHV engines. Anyone know about these?

ride those THINGS big and small -- no honey !!!!!

yes -- ZnsaneRyder

Subaru has that 6.0 THING on many of their

power washers, generators, high output blowers -- just to name a few

thinking that in time -- a big THING coming just for MB riders ???

always love to ride those THINGS big and small we love them all
no honey that wasn't me talking !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

fuji who makes subaru also made the absolutly bullet proof hodaka motorcycle engines! my belt drive will do 28 , 30 with a good tail wind, buddy don & i were doin 34 down fairly steep hill the other day totally tacked out i thought she was gonna blow i thought about backing off but i just pegged it to see if she'd take it, it did with no adverse affects, ticks or smoke! if it wasnt for the headwind ,weight, drag & friction ,these things could really sing! just give it a full rev with the wheel off the ground , it zings! ill be buying another at income tax time!!
