a couple motorized cycle trucks I built

Here are a couple bicycle sculptures I completed this fall.

The blue bike has a frame I built mostly from scratch, salvaged head tube seat tube and bottom bracket. The top tank is 16 gauge steel which is a bit heavy for the purpose, but was easy to work with. The filler neck is from an automotive supplier. Worksman wheels with drum brakes. Whizzer engine with auto clutch. spray paint and oneshot enamel all by hand. Front platform and back tool box are diamond plate aluminum. Lights are truck marker lights, LED tail light, tractor headlight. Wood basket has maple for the uprights and hickory for the side slats, finished with wipe on polyurethane.

The red bike has a Worksman low gravity bike frame and wheels. I welded on a back engine mount as I had to tilt the engine to fit. I fabricated the tank out of aluminum, and it is much lighter. Any tanks I do from now on will probably be aluminum. The engine is a "80cc" happy time from spooky tooth. Lights run from the white wire. The expansion chamber is one I fabricated out of conduit. I found the port timing and used this site http://www.mh-aerotools.de/airfoils/javapipe_main_en.htm

Recently had a problem with the clutch on the blue bike. The bearings went to pieces while on a ride. It seems whizzer used ball bearings instead of roller bearings and it squirted the balls right out.

Nice work. Talk to Quenton in the Whizzer section of this site he can fix you up with a nice clutch.

Those are terrific. The ability to carry loads in style. With something like that, why do we even need cars?

Well, I guess I can think of a few uses for the automobile still. But we could get along without nearly so many of them.

It would be a better world.

I like. You should try a 4 stroke on your next one, better low end torque. Top end isn't as important on a truckbike I find.

Beautiful craftsmanship. I am considering a 3 wheeler truck for grocery runs as I live in a very small town. Many good ideas here. Thanks for the details.

Please consider posting a build-up series on your next bike - us newbies have a lot to learn.

Very cool rides! You definitely have the touch. I gotta ask the age old question ... how long did it take to build them?
