High performance air filter kits for 4 stroke?

Are there any nice air filters that fit right up to the HuaSheng/Hondas? The carb is flat so the normal round rubber mount with a hose clamp style filters don't work (or is there an adapter for using those type?). A velocity stack would be nice too. I just don't like the look of the stock square plastic filters.

I don't like the stock look either, but I don't know of a manufactured alternative- use your imagination. I did...but admitedly, I was going for an old fashiondy look more than anything else.

Keep in mind that there is a crankcase breather that goes to the air box. I just put a PCV valve on mine.

Air Cleaner

Hi Hough, did you use a tub drain, and a altoids can? I've used chrome tub and sink drains before, very nice!

Mike

Correct on the tub drain, but the can is from a candle from the $1 section at target. I cut out the center of the lid and epoxied the drain cover on.

Good Job!

Hi Hough, well it looks nice, and the cotton pickin thing that it comes with does NOT!

you put pcv valve in the end of that lil hose form crankcase?

Mike

I did- not really necessary as i just ran the tube open, but I didn't like the idea of dust getting in there. Here is a pic, but the PCV and tube are obscured by the remote oil drain hose- but you can get the idea. You can see the PCV hanging down behind the drain hose.

pcv valve

Hi Hough, from what I remember of the PCV valve it is designed to have the ball drop to seal, and only let out positive pressure. Therefore yours must be a spring-loaded type?

I know of certain applications where that fact was ignored, and the pcv did not do what was expected of it.

Why did you decide not to port back into the air cleaner? Were you thinkinh that since you reduced the surface area of filtration that you did not want to risk oil impregnation?

Mike

Vilosity stack and performance air filter

I installed a 7/8 stack and a high performance filter on my 4 stroke with a few simple modifications. OKay here goes trying to attach picture !!

Honestly, just wanted something to plug the hole, but let pressure out if necessary. I wasn't concerned with the original function of the tube which was to make sure any oil vapor vented was burned off rather than released.
