Keepin it simple

Looking for advice on a simple and cheap kit to add to the old bike. I can change my own oil and plugs but, outside of that I am not the best. Would like something proven. Also, how do you guys go about protecting these from getting stolen? I'd hate to spend the money on a kit and have it come up missing.

welcome bigbody; to see the simplest bike search--briggs style bikes--motormaker built some of the neatest rigs around. i was able to bolt a rig together in 30min and it ran 20-24mph, i expect my next will go 45, with a 50cc motor

The simplest kit you can buy is a friction kit from Staton. However it is not cheap at $400+.

The simplest and cheapest friction kit is if you DIY with used weedwhacker engine and BMX peg for spindle. A knowledgeable builder can do it for less than $50.

Or look for a used kit on the forums or ebay.

agreed... IMO the $400 is worth it, because you'll have fewer problems later on.

Check all our vendors...there are many proven drive systems available.

this may be cheap.... but there is nothing simple about it.

as for theft protection..... good quality locks, locked doors, video surveillance, a big mean dog, all will help, but.....

If a Thief wants your stuff....he takes it.

I like Staton products; I have his front and rear friction drive kits as well as chain drive kit.

I'll be having his 14" mag wheel on my B.O.B. push trailer.

I use a thin 48" cable with built-in combo lock to secure my bike seat. It's long enough to coil around the bike seat, engine's clutch housing and bike frame.

It does not interfere with engine operation.

Once installed it does not have to be removed.

A standard 8-foot bike cable can also coil around engine clutch housing and bike frame. If carefully routed, once installed it does not have to be removed.
