You can get everything you need at an auto parts store and motorcycle/rv shop to get a full 12v system set up on your bike.

check out http://www.monsterscooterparts.com/
and http://www.electricscooterparts.com/
for parts if you wish to order over the web.
Check out my xr75 build thread and the electrical systems forum here at MBC. lots of good info around here, this is doable by anybody WITHOUT solder or engineering electrical components.

well when it comes to a horn so as to be legal
must be able to be heard __??____ ft away ??

a person could -- for the real thing
mount one of the ((small boat horns)) ----------- super loud !!!
no batteries needed just the can of compressed air with the horn head piece

there are some cool looking ((squash bulb)) type bicycle horns
sound very nice -- distance carried ?? so so

ride the motor bike

thanks for the replys, sorry i should have stated that my headlights and tail lights both run on 'c' and 'aaa' batterys. Im looking for pics or suggestions on a horn thats self contained.
That dosent require an ele. system to be wired. also i didnt find in my state laws any distance the horn has to be heard from. all it says is a horn is required, no sirens allowed.
thanks

How about a small air horn? I had one on my kayak when I used it for fishing. I wasn't always sure a boater saw me and when it looked like they were bearing down on me, the air horn got their attention. Very loud.

Hi Gator72007 Air Zound is air only, air pump refills the little bottle and there you go and its pretty loud. Works for me take care, got mine on E-Bay there are two guys selling them one is cheaper than the other I paid 26.00 with shipping, very satisfied.

I have been looking into fitting a air horn setup myself, i just took a looksee on EBay after seeing the above link post RE: the Air Zound and came across another neat little setup thats electric-->

I like the remote button setup, i would prefer this to the Air Zound it looks a little whacky too me and would 'stand out' a bit on my ride i think, where as the one i linked too could be hidden easily ou of site and the button mounted on the bars ...IM gettin me one!!! hehee shall lets you fellas know how it goes when i getz it :)

Your right about the visual part it's not attractive, your alternative looks better but it's not small, looks like a radar detector for a cop. I may try that one as well, but I would not mount it on the rear section of the bike as shown in there illustration. thanks for the info

On second inspection i noted the postage cost :-| Its Close to $AU50 bucks JUST in freight, the horn itself is cheaper Lo...I'll see if i can find one a little closer to home, i'm madly saving for my next build at the moment... If you get one before I let us know how it goes matey...I was thinking it could possibly go underneath a seat on a 'normal' bicycle? I will be placing one under my rear tray out of site i have the 'advantage' i guess of a little more room than a two wheeler :)

Good luck with it anyway buddy ;-)
