I havn't tried these but since a clam has got 2 sides to it's shell i can only assume u use both, clamped around the frame.Even with 1 you've still got the same clearance problem.
If it's possible cut down the clam/clams or bend the exhaust;for $5 their not worth returning.
I have put on the adaptors without the muffler on. Had to use the extra long mounting studs dax sells. I will bend the exhaust forward(towards the front wheel) and see how that goes... Thanks
Brother...I had the same exact problem with my Diamondback...I bought some 1 1/2 inch wide x 1/4 aluminimum strip from a hardware store....bent it to angle off the water bottle cage mounts...then used the U bolt to strap to the aluminum strip...for security used another U bolt between the 2 water bottle bolts...then the back of the engine bolts as it should...no drilling or screwing around with your frame...easy and engine feels secure...
Oh...the exhaust pipe was a problem...i cut the engine side of the exhaust manifold an inch and 1/4 from the engine...brazed/ soldered a piece of electrical conduit ( you bend to get around the frame of course )( copper plumbing pipe would be better.) to get around the frame and brazed the muffler on the other end...Propane torches are easy and cheap...You will want a solder with a high tin content...If you have a friend thats a plumber...he can easily help you do this..I was stumped and going to go to a welding shop when my neighbor helped me with this...No problems at all..
