A few people here sing the praises of suspension seat posts. I figure I'll give it a try sometime, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

But I doubt if you've made a mistake. I'll bet you'll like it.

Every lil bit helps with a bicycle and going over bumps you definately notice the seat post giving way, plus with suspension forks your getting the best you can do in the suspension dept.

I have one like it (mine's from Nashbar), on my Trek. I'm not impressed, but perhaps I just don't have enough body weight.

Everybody knows there is an Allen's head adjustment at the bottom of the post, correct?

There is no way to stop the slight swivel on a suspension seat post, its is barely noticeable.

But combined with the 12" Cloud Nine saddle I like it. On my bike I have the saddle pushed back on the post as far as possible. I adjust that Allen's adjustment about 3/4 "soft/counterclockwise" most of the time.

I was thinking about splurging on the air shock (Amazon says $51 plus shipping, my bikeshop says $45 plus tax):

Until I read the review under the item description:

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, but will it last?, May 10, 2009

I bought this with my new Novara Bonanza mountain bike a year and a half ago. It works well and looks nice. It uses air suspension, and I did have to buy a special pump to keep it pressurized.

It is now losing pressure daily, sometimes in as little as an hour. I expect that the seals are shot. Looks like more money to get it fixed or replaced. Sigh...

So I think I'll pass on that, let some other MBer be the guinea pig.

Test a few from a bike stores before u buy over the internet....some are better that others(and cost less)
A friends is much more expensive than mine yet doesn't feel as good,& has a horrible twisting sensation from excess swivel.

I had never heard of the "swivel" factor before. Maybe I could live with it if it were minor.

But it sounds like a drag.

I'm glad I'm reading this thread. One more example of how helpful discussion can be.
