And the internet has given me nothing.

I want to know how easy/difficult it would be to modify a single speed OCC Stingray to a 3 speed. I know how to do the cabling, I just need to know if a 3 speed hub would fit between the single speed rear stays.

it's been done thousands of times ----- no major problems

let's see my friend back in aprox 1964 had a Stingray

which he had made into a 45 speed -- 3 sprokets front -- 5 sprokets rear with a three speed
yes he had to spread his frame a long ways for all of that

just locate and buy 20 in 3 speed wheel

you probably will have to spread the frame a very little -- we did this often in the bike shop

ride that THING

all good MM
the internal 3speeds have a rep of not holding up to engine power
Roland (the sponsor) blew his up at deathrace (I tried to warn him :))

ok. would an external 3 speed hub fit? adding the derailleur is easy, i just dont want to have to stretch the stays

are 3 speed hubs heavy duty -- maybe not ??

the internal 3speeds have a rep of not holding up to engine power

yes -- that makes good sense Bill

we used to make repairs on 3 speeds
a few of the parts inside -- did not look to be that heavy duty

possibly made more for cruzing bicycle speeds of -- up to 20 mph at times ??

where as many MB riders will be going at least that speed at many many times..

stretching the stays -- commonly done -- when required to fit wider wheel

we sure do like to ride those motor bike THINGS

On theSheldonBrown Web site you can find info on how to go about doing this(steel frames).Three speed hubs need frequent lubrication (oil they have lube nipples). It's the lack of this that does them in.Mechanically they actually are quite sturdy..as long asyou don't shift under power. They usually have ratios of 0.75, 1.0 and 1.34

well, even on my current bike i never shift under power. my idle is set perfectly so that the sprocket spins, just extremely slowly, because as i grew up i was told to always shift a bike while pedaling.

i just need to know how simple it would be, and if i could do it with no torch n bend lol
