Hello everyone I'm Layboomo and I ordered an 80cc(yeah I know not really 80cc) motor kit to try. I'm not new to bicycles...just motorized ones. My other interests are guitars & tube amps ...and of course Dogs! It looks like a very cool place and I think this could become addictive very easily!

Welcome to MBc.........from the Pioneer Valley.
I hope you enjoy your bike and ride responsibly, and keep an eye out for staties, lol.
BTW, 50cc is the max MB in Mass so enjoy your new "49".

Thankyou. Yeah I know "49" it is. I should have the motor kit next week and I'm looking forwrd to it. I'm still trying to decide on the donor bike though. I already have a schwinn cutter in my stable, but Wally-world has the huffy cranbrook on sale for $85 right now as well. Any thoughts?

Well, the Cutter is a pretty decent steel frame which IMO makes it better though setup as a single speed makes not for an upright riding position.

To each their own of course, some may have purchased one and like it so I don't mean to offend anyone but I would not buy a new Huffy as they are made today. I guess I'd say it depends on how you are going to use it. For running around the neighborhood is one thing but if you plan on riding it hard I would definitely look elsewhere. JMO.

Thanks.....yeah I'm leaning towards the cutter myself(already paid for). The geometry of the frame looks like it will make for an easy install with a a few tweaks(re-routing the rear brake cable for one)but nothing drastic. The front flat bar is chopped already and it will be a bit of cafe style body position. If it bugs me it's very easy to put a hi-rise set of bars on for a more relaxed riding position. I've already got a padded seat and better cranks installed as well. Thanks for the input!

Thanks for the replies guys! I went over to my local Wally-world today and checked out the 1 built up Huffy Cranbrook that they had in stock and the main weld connecting the downtube to the bottom bracket was just awful. The bottom bracket itself looked like it would just fall apart if I ever had to stand up and peddle the thing. I would never trust the stopping power of the coaster brake that was on it from 30 or 35 MPH. The fenders look like they would come off with one or two good bumps at the most. I also found out that they recalled like 1200 or more Cranbrooks due to handle bars working loose. Again these are just my observations on the one bike, but I'm going with the Cutter for sure. After some research and sitting on my bike with a tape measure.....I decided to order a set of BMX bars with a 5" rise and swap out the existing stem with another I have on hand with a rise instead of the stock fixie style. Those 2 mods will give me an upright riding position. I also ordered a double pull right brake lever for both front and rear brakes. I'm kinda excited to put this all together as nobody has done a Cutter yet that I've seen.

your right about the welds wow but when i first started this project the huffy was just going to be a donier for my swhinn frame but the swhinn but iam missing the front forks witch are 6 inchs long were the huffy was 4.5 so i had all the stuff and couldent wait the kit went on the huffy so far so good have fun with your mb
