If they make a comment on the fact that i am not getting any exercise...i tell them that they should try carrying a broke down bike all the way home, not that i have had to yet....knock on wood.
I'm with Hough - I've been called lazy too many times to count.
As for being a great invention, I have to agree - the only more efficient means of transportation ever developed is the steel wheel on the steel rail. That said, as long as man works metal and can build bicycles, we'll also be able to build small IC engines. For that matter, a single cylinder air cooled fiber reinforced ceramic bodied diesel is easily in reach today. Fuels are readily makeable from plant materials, or bacterial fermentation, etc/
Not a chance. Most of the time I'm pedaling along with the engine in order to zip up the steep hills around here. It's the spandex jockeys I feel bad for when they're climbing a hill at 5 mph for a quarter mile or more... I like exercise but I don't like feeling like my heart is going to explode.
While doing my build, I visited a local bike shop for some parts I needed and I happened to mention I was motorizing my bike. The staff acted all snotty and one guy asked me:
"Why don't you just motorize your legs?" I would have thought they would embrace a new potential market or product. Or at the very least, been curious to see if they could make a profit on what I was doing...If I were in their business, I certainly would be. A closed mind can be difficult to open. Don't take it personally, ignorance is every where...like litter.

We refer tp the spandex crowd as "Vanity Riders" around here ! You can always tell the rookies from the pros. The rookies always have the latest, greatest and most exensive equipment, but not a clue how to use it !
