MB #2 -- what would you want ???

was kind of interested in the EZM

but -- what's all the TOP SECRET stuff regarding their product ??

come on now !!!

let us see you ride that THING

does it hurt to show us what's inside that EZM thing ??

just talked with Dean at Pipelyne

How about one of those spiffy Pipelyne motocross type bikes?
They're out in CA I believe.

just talked with Dean at Pipelyne -- yes up in the Calif Bay area
yes -- they have a sweet thing MB going there
starting at around 1,800 and up to 2,400 -- depending on types of forks used
49cc Motomorini motor 5.8 hp

as I sit here and dream -- thinking about it ??

in that range -- it does fit the bill rather well !!

MM

noted one little possible problem with the Pipelyne bike
that muffler thing ???
does it look to you all like it may
burn the heck out of ones leg ???
it's for sure -- not in the best spot !!!

Only two things I want for now.

Disc brakes
Sealed wheel hubs "or cartridge bearings"

I want one as low maintenance as possible and those seem to be my major two issues right now. My caliper brakes I need to adjust way too much and having cheap "unsealed" wheel bearings the grease goes bad way to fast. My mtn. bike with no motor I had over 1k miles "over a year" and when I went to regrease the wheels, the grease was still in perfect condition. My cruiser I need to do every 3 months, because of all the dirt that gets in them. Kind of funny too, because the cruiser I ride just on the road, while my mtn. bike was only off road.

I have been considering a 4 stroke, but I'm still undecided.

yes -- I have been riding with Disc for a while now -- spoiled to say the least !!!

interesting regarding your statement -- new grease in Mtn bike wheels
the other day I dropped off rear wheel for spoke and true
went ahead and asked the bike guy to through in new grease
he said no reason -- when he opens these up -- most never need it ??

oh well -- ride that thing

I built my dream MB first, now that reality has set in I have ordered a GEBE kit w/the 35cc robin engine for an electra townie comfort bike. There are downsides to building an 80 cc cruiser like this one.

http://motoredbikes.com/showthread.php?t=21125

Overly complex instalation
No brakes, can fab mount for disk but it may or may not work
bad riding position (although I have adjusted the seat post down a bit which helped, but not much)
2 stroke mixed gas is a hastle
less "user friendly" so i cant have my family ride it
too many chains = danger + hasstle , I know I could cover them but just more hassle to fix a "malfunction"
engine between crotch increases chance for burn (I alreay experienced this problem) , I know I could wear pants but then they will get caught in chain

There are a few upsides...

Dangerously fast at 45+ MPH (50+ with pedaling)
Looks very cool
Extremely fun to ride (on shorter trips)
Lots of low end torque and top end gearing w/nuvinci

The townie however rides amazingly comfortable and smooth, more suitable for long distance riding
The one I am getting has front brakes w coaster hub (thank God!!)
Robin/Subaru is a more reliable engine with an internal oiling system
Runs on pump gas
More user friendly, now my family can ride with me
Easy instalation
Belt drive, no chains running power through bottom braket = less wear on more delicate bicycle parts

Vtec, interesting observations, informative as well. Also interesting you going to a Robin/Gebe next.
BTW, not sure I'd list the same, one of the upsides as 'dangerously fast', lol but I think I know what you mean.

Dont get me wrong... I LOVE the red barron. But for a daily driver, I think the GEBE-townie will be best.
It will be nice to have both....

why is it interesting I am building a 35 cc GEBE???

Ya if they are sealed well, the grease will hold for a very long time even at speed. Dirt seems to be the major enemy for grease going bad. It must be nice too be spoiled. :D

Yep, understood Vtec. Your Felt cruiser is a sweet looking ride and I'm sure a labor of love.
In the MB world there's a lot of creativity, board trackers, choppers, heritage retro work some of show quality.
My interests are pretty much pragmatic, it could be said mundane, people movers alt. trans. daily users. It's a big tent, seems like you're moving toward the best of both with an open mind. Ride safe.

Yeah, I got into this for alternative transportation too, as my daily driver right now is an 09 jeep wrangler... (not exactly a prius if you know what I mean). However with my first build (as typical with all my projects) I went overboard. Now I want to build something practical, and safe... even if it isnt that fast. This build is all about practicality.
