Engine on bicycle = MUCH safer!

Ever since going back to pedal-only bicycle, it's been ROUGH OUT THERE!

I get chased by dogs, people throw stuff out of windows of their cars and shout mean things, and to really top it off, Today, about an hour ago, I got cut off (On the sidewalk btw) by a Dodge Caravan, and I almost hit the van in the side, I shouted watch out, then that van came back out of another street, and three black guys jumped out of the van and ran after me, and one fast running black dude got a few punches/slaps in my side, but I hit him back with a metal tube, and outran him after that. I'm OK, but that could have ended up badly......

I miss the engine, riding a bicycle is not the same without one!

seriously -- glad that you got out of there ok..............

just happens a while back a black guy cut me off when he was entering the freeway
I hollered into his window as he went by
then as I saw the size of that man
as he waved at me with his finger -- wasn't a sign of affection
I was glad that he didn't pull over !!!
I may be dumb at times but I am not stupid -- most times anyway

this didn't sound gang related... It sounded like good old fashion black racism. they saw what they thought as a "nerdy white guy" on a bike and tried to take the easy target.

How could it not be racially motivated? If not race why did they chase this guy down and hit him to the point he had to fight them off with a pipe? Think that would have happened if that guy would have been black? What if the three guys had been white... I bet we would have seen it on the news complete with a commentary by the "great" al sharpton.

I heard of one (otherwise innocent) family the other week got jumped by a group of 50 black guys screaming

I agree with you mountain... why cant we all just get along. The problem is that white people are no longer the racists, and we live in a culture that insists black people cant be racist so we are forced to look the other way, or make excuses like "well we have gangs of all color"

that fact is that 3 black guys turned around for the sole purpose of causing bodily harm on this poor guy, for no apparent reason other than he said "watch out" after being cut off... do you see it another way?

I've noticed that racism seems to only work one way anymore... If you're white, you CANNOT be racist and have to be very very careful what you say and do. If you're Indian, Black, Oriental, Hispanic, or anything else you can be as racist as you want, it doesn't matter.

On the way back from work one fine day (3 am actually) I ran into a couple of kids (No more than 19, maybe 21) who at first seemed interested in the motorized bike... but then informed me they would be giving it to them, or else. Showed a couple of knives. I dropped the bike and gave the two of them a quick education with a mag lite... call the police? Never! I'd have gone to jail for assault. What's up with that?

Did manage to get a new knife out of the deal.

like a brand new start

but to remember one's I hurt

If you are getting chased by dogs and black guys, I suggest one of those Stun Gun Batons...the ones that are 10" long and can reach out and touch someone.

I plan to go to Yosemite in September. You bet your *** I'm going to bring those 10" long stun batons for Bear protection. It's better than laying down and pretending I'm dead.

should we teach our grandchildren to be blind to hatred towards them? I know black people teach their children to hate white people... why else would a child look at complete stranger with hatred in their eyes? I don't advocate hate but I am not going to force my children to be bullied by other races just because of "white guilt". I never owned a slave... and nobody in my entire family lineage has ever owned a slave. To me this is blind bigotry at its finest.

And whats with all the poems lately? The truth cannot be perfumed with poems.
