Im going to order one of these hub mounted clam shell sprocket thingys and Im going to order thier sprocket with it.. whats the best tooth count to get for all around fun?? how are they different?

I'm a rack-mounter, so specific info from me is bogus....but the general rule is fewer teeth=more torque, higher#teeth= more speed.

The drawback on the highest is it takes more ooooomph to get rolling, but if you are in shape, and since you live in a pancake world, that won't be as important as it is to the hilltoppers.

One thing to keep in mind, this being your first, you might-( probably will ) fall victim to the addiction and start on bike #2 within a month.

So think "aftermarket", maybe stay a few notches beneath the maximum number of teeth, so an out of shape customer can get it moving and buy it right from under you.

As I believe you're talking HT, I think BBG has it backward. He's a GEBE rider and they have a fixed size drive ring and use the engine sprocket to change ratio. With an HT, the engine sprocket is fixed so one would change the wheel sprocket, more teeth = lower ratio, more torque, lower top end.

In any case, your bike, riding conditions, personal weight and riding preferences will change the ideal ratio for you. The main thing to keep in mind is a ratio that is lower than ideal will be far better than a ratio that is higher than ideal. Too low a ratio, will limit top end and effect cruse speed but will allow the engine to perform to it's potential. Too high a ratio will also give poor top end performance as well as poor performance across a wide range of riding conditions. If it were me, I would error on the side of the larger sprocket.

lol this is my second, and ya its been about a month.. thats why im doing more.. i hate the rag joints. Im going to use another 'thatsdax' 70cc center mount (whats ht?) and this is the sprocket/conection I plan to use.->

HT is short for Happy Time which is the forum generic name for the engine you're going to use. You have two options, take a shot in the dark as to secondary sprocket size and learn through trial and error or search this forum and take advantage of others trial and error. As to the actual sprocket setup
from Roadrunner, it looks excellent although some research of that item on the forum, couldn't hurt either.
