I would like to know if anyone has ever gotten 'infraction points' for going off topic in a thread ???

I was understanding those to be for swearing, deriding others...that kind of stuff

this site is supposed to be a knowledge base, not a friggin kiddie school

Tom's mission statement

" MotoredBikes.com was created with the vision of creating a community of motorized bicycle enthusiasts, and providing a means to communicate and convey ideas, thoughts and opinions to one another to help spread the word on this alternative mode of transportation."

it seems that the super-moderator has let the title swell his head and he has forgotten how adults behave

Dave, I used to think you were a nice dude, but you have changed since we last talked to each other :(
you used to be very even handed about things, now you are changing the rules as it suits your fancy.
Yes, I am talking about any post with anything to do with EZM

I've never gotten any infraction points for going off-topic but i can imagine if someone is consistantly doing it they'll get a subtle warning, then it's up to them if they want to risk more.
Very few ppl like being told what to do/what not to do,but it's for the common good.Without firm/enforced rules websites quickly degenerate into a little kids slanging match with who can swear the most....result,nothing ever gets done.

I am referring to a post discussing the legalities of shifting gears
the adults having the conversation have talked to each other by land-line and worked their differences out
but, apparently, the post was deemed bad enough to award points ???

i got an infraction...like anyone here, i knew the rules, but i broke one. funny thing...i lived.

i'd think someone with a going business would be best served to just stay out of "borderline" topics...i understand EZM is doing well, so why would y'all wanna keep presenting such an aggressive image?

and, i could say the same thing about peeps who used to be nice guys.

Thanks, Augie.

First of all, the rules are clear for anyone to read. We want to make sure that threads stay on-topic to respect the original poster. When people post completely off-topic replies, the board becomes disorganized, it creates work for the moddies (splitting threads), and people get upset.

7 points for this broken rule is NOTHING. Established members can do it 4 times in a row before they see any banned time. Even if they push their luck and do it a 5th time, they only face a 2-day time-out.

Second, infractions are delivered anonymously. They come from a "Dummy" user called "Admin", so you have no way of knowing who actually gave the infraction. It could have been any mod/admin who was following simply protocol.

Third, infraction points themselves are not a form of punishment. Having 7 infraction points under your belt does not restrict how you use the forum. They are simply a convenient way for the hard-working moderators to keep track of who is respecting the forum rules and who is not.

there is no mention of getting points for going off-topic
hundreds of threads here are like that
but, if that's how you are doing things now....it is your house and I will stay on topic

aug, there was no borderline, an opinion was rendered, that's all
if that is aggressive, I don't see how
facts are facts

I am still asking if ANYONE else here has gotten points for going OT

am I getting points for THAT ?
