At night, no lights, wrong way, speed = diaster

It all goes back to what I've been sayin on this board from the get go.
indeed!

self-regulation is far better than forced-regulation.

....He did everything just as wrong as can be. But the police chief is focused on the motor.

There's more than one idiot involved in this. The second one is liable to make things hard for our MB brothers in Springfield MA. Such a shame.

Are you saying the Springfield police are acting "stupidly"? ;)

If so, I agree 100% in this case.

If the accident involved two non motorized bikes, do you think it would have been on the news? Would the police chief then advocate the banning of pedal bicycles?

Let's face it - motorized bikes are an easy target for politicians and law enforcement. They'll get up on their soap boxes, denounce the evil machines and create laws to ban them.

Yes. If I wasn't clear, I'm calling the police chief an idiot based on Happy Valley's statement that he intends to make a big deal out of the motor.

Or maybe he's no idiot at all and he's indulging in scape-goating.

But maybe I'm jumping to conclusions too fast; maybe that was just a "heat of the moment" type of comment. He's probably just as mad at that jerk as everyone else. When he thinks about it, maybe he'll calm down and start thinking of enforcing laws dealing with lighting, wrong way riding, etc.

So let me withdraw my name calling (my apologies, Chief) for now. Let's see how he actually does handle this.

There is an order to stupidity and in this case it started with the guy on the MB. I can't divine the chief's motives. This story made the news because there was a traffic accident and it involved bicycles and an automobile, the one that hit the biker.

If I've not been clear, contained in posting this story is a plea for motorized bicycle enthusiasts to ride safe and responsibly.

get this on thursday i was riding my motorised bike along the torrens river bike path at about 1 30 pm and saw ambulances there were 2 they waved me down to go around i slowed right down looked back and one guy was lying in a big white plastic body bag and they were loading another guy into the wagon looked some more and two cyclists had apparently had a head on the bikes were crunched together by the front wheels and were traveling in the same lane (its a double lane the same as an incoming outcoming road)

Got a link to the news story? What town do you live in? A head-on bicycle fatality should make the news.
