Hi all,
I've had my motored bike for quite a while
http://www.motoredbikes.com/showthread.php?t=21169

and someone was discussing in the thread about "tank spacers".

The way my bike is built, where the tank SHOULD sit, is where break and gear wires sit. I was able to find a "sweet" spot where it was tightened on but not too tight but not "squeezing" on the break wires, but I decided while giving it its bimonthly maintenance just to figure out what the heck these tank spacers are. I've searched the forum and couldn't find anything about it, or some kind of fix, and I'm not innovative enough to figure one out myself :p. If any one knows one, i'd be greatly appreciative.

I took a old garden hose and cut it to fit built it up with another piece till I was high enough works great.

I ran the cables through black cable sheathing, and spread them to fit between top-tube and tank mounting bolts

I took an extra tank mount, slid some big nuts over the studs, put on tank clamp under the brake cable and over the frame, then put another mount on the bottom and bolted it down. Formed a perfect tunnel for the cables. I can take a pic if that is too cloudy :)

I did what azbill did but went the extra mile and used a screwdriver and hammer and removed the cable ends on the top tube so my tank would sit on the tube correctly.

i did it just like ed. but i screwed the nuts all the way down to the tank.this way you are not pulling on the studs. you are pulling on the first set of nuts
figured this out after 2 leaky tanks at the studs.

I made a tank mount bracket that sets it above the tube about an inch.
