Titan Base Cutdown.

On a 250Km trip(some on dirt) one of my jackshaft bearings(bushs actually) failed.Since mine was the first model Titan i opted to buy the most rescent jackshaft assembly, bushs etc substantially beefed-up.
While i was there i wanted to drop some weight from the stainless steel base so i cut it down, now it's only half the weight with no significant loss in strength.

Very nice! This is how they should come from dax (maybe for an extra fee?) That looks a ton better and the drop in weight must make the bike feel better too.

How long did it take you to gnaw through that thing by the way? That looks like rather thick steel. You gotta post some pix when its assembled again.

I'm currently working on it now,but while there i'm also doing extra mods.Geez that 250Km trip really taught me a lesson(particularly rough dirt roads) about handling/weight/reliability.
Before pic:

After to come:

PS,it took about 3 hrs to crawl my way through the 6mm stainless steel(really got my moneys worth there)

Here's the stainless steel base cut-down....while i was there replacing the failed jackshaft with the latest version i also replaced the standard chain with a KMC.
The bike is now noticably lighter & methinks exceedingly more reliable.....now where's those dirt roads again.

BTW...i also beefed-up the way the sprockets connect to the jackshaft cos i never did trust that idea.

Nice streamlining there fetor. That looks so much better than the original.
Yer gonna make Large Philipino jealous!

Just a note, I didn't like the jackshaft sprocket arrangement either - especially after stripping the set screw !

What I did was to flatten the surface of the shaft with my grinder, just around where the output sprocket sits on the jackshaft to sort of key it. I feel more confident that the set screw will hold it now.

Didn't do it with the input sprocket though, not yet anyway.

Not a bad idea chris.
I drilled & tapped the opposide side of the sprocket & bolted it from that side aswell.....safety in numbers.

NOOB that I am I have a question, why is this particular set up called Titan?
I did a little search but found no re-seller for this set up.
Can you all set me straight.
Thanks

Besides Greek mithology a Titan is described as:
one that is gigantic in size or power/one that stands out for greatness or achievement.
In other words i don't know & i've never seen Duane from thatsdax explain....perhaps his last girlfriend was a rather large and menacing person,a female Titan.

The only person that sells this setup in it's current configuration is,like i said:
