Well Said!
At least here in NJ, there was a law that restaurants needed to provide a "non-smoking" section. Then, they just banned smoking in restaurants, and bars altogether.
I would prefer if there was no ban, and if someone didn't want to go to a restaurant because they allowed smoking, then they could choose not to go there. It is a private business, and the decision to allow smoking should be left up to the business owner. If he feels that he will get more business if he bans smoking, then he should be able to ban smoking.
Cheer when they ban something that you agree with, but then you'd better keep quiet when they ban something you like.
if somebody wants to smoke at a restaurant they can always go outside for 5 min...
Given the choice, I think almost all the restaurants would ban smoking... since they banned smoking in public placesi, the restaurant industry has exploded. Turns out people eat out more and take their families with them if there is a smoke free environment to go to.
Hey, what all of you misses is that they try it out in CA first and than the whole country follows...
Until they ban smoking outside. It has probably already been done. Be careful when you say "they" 'cuz someday "they" will be "you". Think slippery slope.......
Restaurant industry exploding? I'm not too sure about that.
Here at Atlantic City, the gubmint has been wanting to pass a smoking ban in casinos. The casinos are fighting this. Just the fact that the casinos were exempted from the ban speaks volumes about the effects. So now that the casinos are going bankrupt because of the new economy, they'll ban smoking and turn away more business. Brilliant!
I'd love to open a restaurant where smokers are welcome, things are fried in trans fat, no diet anything is served, and children are banned. But I cannot do that. And no, I don't hate kids - who would make Nike sneakers? j/k - while family restaurants may have not suffered from anti-smoking laws, what about adult oriented restaurants? (those romantic restaurants for couples - I know you were thinking TT bar......lol)
Tell me about it. Here in NJ, we are usually all too eager to adopt stupid ideas from CA.

isn't that a bar????
I don't kow about CA, but here in the garbage state, you can't smoke in bars. slippery slope..........
....I say slippery slope headed your way next partner... they dont like guns in jersey either.
