So Ive put the freewheel and extended crank and shaped pedal shafts on.
Then I wanted to ride with no motor on to a friends place to modify my brakes.
The first time I attempted the 5 mile pedal I had a blow out in the back tire.
So I push the bike home and fix the tire.
I notice the crank needs adjusting so soon
The next time I attempt the trip a couple of miles into the trip the crank bearings have gone all floppy again
So anyone else had problems.
Does it get worse with the power of the engine???

Are you sure you installed them correctly? They are left and right hand threads. If you put them on backwards they will continually loosen up from pedaling. What kind of bottom bracket? Cartridge, cup and cone, one piece?

No its not the pedals Ghost
I bought a shifter kit with my chinese 2 stroke and there was longer shaft with square tapers to replace the shorter original shaft

It runs on caged balls and its those that need the adjustment

I know, that is what I am talking about. My guess is that you have installed the cups on the wrong side. Swap them so that as you pedal it will be tightening them up instead of loosening them.

sorry Ghost youve lost me
So I pulled the shaft out and on the side furtherest from the chainwheel the cage had broken up so Ive cleaned out all the shrapnel and put new bearings in

I put a different cone in the side that broke up

I am 60 years old and I started playing around with bikes from 10 years old

Bike havent changed much and I cant see how anybody could do what you guessed I did Mr Ghost :giggle:what you been smoking boy

Most importantly you found the problem. There are conversion kits out there that allow you to swap the left and right hand threads on the bottom bracket so that is why I asked what kind of BB you had. As you know most 3 piece bottom brackets have threads in the bottom bracket tube which would make it impossible to swap the left and right. But the conversion adapters can be put in to the tube either way which could cause someone to install the cups backwards.

yeah right Ghost I see
Do your conversions space the bearing out?
I bought my engine and shift kit from Motrax a local New Zealand engine supplier.
Sometimes a mate would say I have what yourve been smokin I would say Im high on life
Anyway I started with a mountain bike but thanks to this forum I noticed broken frames and the mtb frame was overspec for mounts
So Im using a bike with 28 inch wheels well ive put a 26 inch wheel on the back Ive cut the outside knobs off the outside of the rear tire with a serated knife:unsure:corners better than my mtb for sure
I think I may have to shorten my peddle shafts or stop peddling over this big tree root down the back

well Ghost I see from SBs website what you mean
We have 2 mtbs that have those plastic jobs that need that tool to remove them a Scott and a made in USA Raleigh which is mostly alloy frame

Anyway cant save every old bike

I'm sorry to say that is not a Sick Bike Parts kit, SBP has no connection or association with Motrax. Can't say what that guy uses for parts, but he is not using anything from Sick Bike Parts that we know of. We will try our best to help you out, no problem, just wondering if he sent you to our site for help, did he claim it to be a Sick Bike Parts Shifter Kit, etc? Not trying to put the load on you or anything, again we are here to help. Indeed photos would be great. Thanks.

Our conversion kits do not widen the bearing spacing. However what some don't know is that the bottom bracket bearing spacing on steel frames is 68 mm and it is 73 mm on most aluminum frames. This may be part of the problem. We sell a spindle made for aluminum frames with the 73 mm bearing spacing.

As Pablo pointed out you are the first member here to my knowledge that has the Motrax knock off of our kit. Would love see photo of your install.
