motorized tour bike

...i do know, from packing/hitching the 70's/80's, that perks abound on the road, and the bike itself is such an ice-breaker, eh?

I rode a non-motorized bike on tour in 2006 and 2007, and the motorized bike is a much bigger ice-breaker, almost by a factor of 10 it seems.

thanx for the links to other motorized bikes.

This year i definetly will do a big trip hopefully 1500 to 2000 miles up the interior of B.C. with a Staton chaindrive 4 cycle Subaru-Robin will use 2 front packs and a single wheel trailer--last year i tried with an unhappy times 2 cycle big mistake the chain wore thru the chain and engine mounts did too--abandoned trip and engine blew shortly therafter-here is a pic of the bike

That looks and sounds like a fun and do-able system for long-distance touring. I've considered a trailer, which would made packing easier. A single wheel trailer is the only way i would go, because of little or no shoulder in some areas, the long distances I travel on Forest Roads, and at least the possibility of putting a short single wheel trailer on mass-transit.

Robin, I was under the impression gas powered bikes in BC or maybe all of Canada are a huge nono. And you are planning a 2000 mile trip? Please explain, inquiring minds would like to know. :D

Not true --very little problem if any here in the interior-- i personaly have been pulled over and the guy was more interested as to what and how it was--he did ask for a drivers license which i had and may be the real key--my friend in Victoria says that the police there are hard on the crazy driver kids but not if they are driving responsibly.

Ok, sorry, I thought I had read someplace on here that it was like a $5000 fine if caught riding a gas engined bike. Electrics only were the rule. But I must have been wrong.
