Just a quick note to say hello. I'm here in Mount Vernon, WA. Pretty new to this and just finished my first build (mountain bike)

I am riding in the cold when there's no ice on the ground. Been cold but no snow lately. Its around 19 out there now and I'm gonna layer up and head to the hardware store for some supplies to make a spring loaded tensioner. Not happy with the one that comes with the kits. Hows the weather ur way? Colder I bet

Well, this is a first. Just about freezing here but due to join your temp zone shortly. Tested out the e-bike on a light snow today= severe wheel spin starting out, rode a hundred feet and put it away.
That tensioner is a big topic here. Some like to drill a little hole and put a locating screw in it, so it can not twist into the spokes, others eliminate it by using 1/2 links ( I think). Did see a couple spring jobs too.

Mine is going to be a spring deal. Taking a break now (hands got cold) Almost done though.

Welcome to the forum. Nice bike. I have a mountain bike with a Grubee 66cc and I elminated the kit tensioner and so far it works great. I figured since my pedal chain on the right side already has a tensioner/gear changer I would fit the engine drive chain to be tightened by the rear axle slide slots (hope I described this right). So far it works great.

My Rear slots are vertical so I didn't figure that would work for me. Does your wheel slide back and forth rather than up and down?

I think the slots on mine angle up and back. Kind of at a 2 oclock angle. I will try and get a picture for you soon. I left my bike at a friends house last night to work on carb air leaks. I will be going back tomorrow to get it.

Hello and welcome to mbc! I used to live in Marblemount we live at the beach for now...good gloves and shoes are a must! My hubby got new gloves for xmas he was warm on our ride to Ledbetter point I was yowling from what felt like frost bite i had 2 pairs 1 cotton and 1 wool, still froze...happy motoring and enjoy the ride!
