Looking For a Good Mirror ????

All my box wrenches in order of importance 15mm, 11mm, 5mm, 10mm.

On my road bikes, even the chainguard phillips heads have been swapped out, and fingernail polish on every thread eliminates problems.

re: cheap bar ends as mirror mounts

Thats a pretty cool idea. Do you use the bar ends any? Do you feel endangered by them (I don't like bar ends usually).

You can probably use 4 or even 6" diesel truck corner spot mirrors on the bar ends. They are very durable and will provide a wide angle view, but will not give accurate distance or details.

Picture those "bar ends" that you'll find on mountain bikes. (and others, I suppose)
Those make a fine mirror mount.

You simply drill through it, front to back. I used a couple of motorcycle mirrors, about 3" round. You pass the bolt from a seat post clamp through the hole you drilled and the flanges from the clamp will hold on to the mirrors arm.

I mounted the bar ends just inside my grips and levers. The bar end gets everything above your hands and the mirrors arm can be tilted so that the mirror sits outside of your wrists.

You'll need the actual mirrors, of course. But stainless steel bicycle mirrors can be found online. And I imagine motorcycle mirrors could be found at a garage/motorcycle junkyard.

I use the msssspp system for distance.

Here in hill country, from the first flash of a car in the mirror, I used to recite 1-8 mississippis, & the car has caught up.

Out in flat prairies it took 15 misses.

But the whole trick to a MB.bikemirror is minimal shaking, both models look to have that quality.

$4 mirrors do not.

Walmart mirror vibrates on HT bike

I bought the $20 Mad Dog ATV mirror from WMart. It looks nice, and seems fairly well made. When pedaling the bike, it does great, but when the bike is running, the mirror vibrates terribly. It is useable in daylight but worthless at night as it just makes a white streak with any headlights on it.

I tried reinstalling it with a foam piece wrapped around the bar. I will see if this helps.

My 'Mountain Mirrycle' mirrors arrived a couple of days ago. The one on the electric bike is nice and clear with almost no vibration and stays put on potholes and bumps without self-adjusting.
Haven't tested the MB yet, but I suspect that it will vibrate too much. Old tube rubber around the plug that goes into the handlebars might help, but for now I've fitted it without.
I noticed on the electric that the vibration was worse when I let go of the handlebars. Gripping the bars hard helps damp the mirror vibration.
I'll post results after my next MB ride.
