I bought the GEGE kit and robin subaru engine seperatly and am trying to figure out to hook up the kill switch but there is only one wire coming from the kill switch and two coming from the motor and help would be appreciated.

thanks

easy answer... one wire to the kill switch.

The kill switch is the ground.... when you ziptie it to the metal handlebar, the contact between the switch and the metal is the ground. It serves as the other wire..... super simple.

so the other wire from the engine does not go anywhere

sorry, I think you misunderstood (probably my fault, it was a long weekend). The wire goes to the kill switch. Then mount the kill switch to your handle bar. The contact between the switch and the handle bar acts as the ground.

I think I know what he is talking about. My R/S has 2 wires coming out of it. I connected the one with the male connector to the kill switch and the one with the female connector, I tucked up out of the way.

ohhh... I see. thatperson is right.

I should have asked if you were going to remote mount the kill switch on the handle bar, or mount the r/s switch on the motor. if you use the remote mount setup the ground wire is unnecessary and can be removed if you dont like the way it looks.

the wire that is bolted to the outside case is the ground (its short and is bolted to the case by an allen head screw). The wire coming out of the cdi is the one you want to attach the kill switch to.

sorry for any confusion.

Good advice so far and I'll add one further thought.
If the one wire switch works for you you can remove the second short wire from the case. For most hardtail bikes the one wire switch is good.

I have had two full suspension bikes that made bad ground though and needed to go to a two wire switch, in which case that second short ground wire was needed.

never used a full suspension bike... good to know

is it a factor of the material used to make the bike.. or is it because the back half and front half of the bike are not one piece??

Both. There are too many pieces and poor electrical conductors in the mix. The greasy bearings and urethane bushings found in the swingarm attachment points and headset create enough resistance in the circuit for it to fail. The CDI lead is no longer grounded by the switch because a path to the ground reference (back at the motor) can't be found through the chassis.

Extending the second wire to the handlebar and securing it beneath the kill switch mounting clamp will fix things.

From the OPs original title..........me personally I prefer honda kill switches, they kill the spark better.
