Yes, I am diabetic. Severely so, actually. It causes me problems, but I have every intention of getting back on the road again - its just a matter of the right means to do so. It has to be a trike, as with no sensation in my lower legs I cannot balance a two-wheeler at all.
The delta trike conversion I had is toast - the frame is bent, the engine jug is cracked, and while various parts are salvageable, the bike itself is a write-off - the rear axle mounts are seriously bent, and re-alignment of it is beyond my capabilities.
So, I'm designing a basic tadpole I can fabricate from materials on hand, and a friend here will weld it up for me once I get the parts together. I have a good, stout rear wheel to use, I just need to get two 20 inch front wheels, as I will fabricate the front kingpins/half axles by hand here. The BB will come off the mashed trike, and get mounted to the front boom of the tadpole, along with the crank set. Disc brakes I'll need to buy when I get to that point - I want to go with a disc on each front wheel.
It will get done, but it will take a while - I'm stuck with my foot propped in the air for the next goodly while at this point.
I really appreciate the offered assistance, guys, and am very grateful to the good people this community has introduced me too. Anyone who cannot afford donations - please do NOT feel badly about that - I know full well what tight finances are like. The best thing you can all do is keep it "in the wind", and keep posting about your experiences - reading about them is a tremendous source of inspiration and encouragement to me.
