5.5hp engine on chopper bike

Here is my project I have been working on for awhile now.

Left to do is a custom exhaust, back sprocket, throttle and brake, also paint some pieces of the bike.

In order to get the engine to fit I had to completely delete the bottom bar and drop it down 2 inches so the engine could clear(shown in the picture)

I ordered the 14in apehangers from uschoppers.

the gas tank is a nos energy drink bottle,(it actually works) but I don't know if it will be my permanent setup.

Nice project Stephen, Don't let these guys pull your chain too far.
Do find out what is necessary to be legal in your state.

wow man, you have a lot going on there. you have done a lot of great engineering as far as getting the motor mounted ot the frame, BUT.....I'm
not sure i'd trust that bike at any speeds over 30 mph. the bearings in the hubs are not caged bearings, they are just ball and cup bearings. and if you haven't taken the hubs apart and re-greased the bearings, i would at least do that. these bikes come with minimal grease on the wheel bearings (and it looks like it's thick, nasty recycled grease at that) the brakes on these bikes are not the best either.
you need to loose the nos bottle "gas tank", and take that white spray paint off the tires (they don't look like whitewalls...they just look like what painted tires).
just my opinion.

yeah, just because gas containers are plastic, doesn't mean ALL plastics are safe for gasoline. A drinks bottle is going to be way down on the "food chain" of quality of plastic...

remember, plastic is a petroleum product; gasoline is a petroleum product. Get the wrong kind of plastic, and gasoline becomes a ready solvent...

there are literally hundreds of types of plastics, and they all have different chemical compostions. h.d.p.e. (high density poly ethylene) is the type plastic that shampoo bottle are made out of, and they contain mica, which makes them very strong.
P.E.T. or P.E.T.E. (Polyethylene terephthalate) is what pepsi , coke and clear water bottles are made out of, and it's a much "harder" plastic but fragile to certain chemicals at the same time.
all you have to do is look on the bottom of the plastic bottle and it will tell you what it is made of. I would not use anything to hold gasoline other than an approved gas can (plastic or metal). plastic gas cans are made of H.D.P.E like shampoo bottles. so really, you could use a shampoo bottle to hold gasoline, but a shampoo bottle will not be an officially approved container because it is not U.L. listed and classified as a safe container for gasoline. plus, a shampoo bottle will not be vented to allow the fumes to escape when the fumes build pressure from heat.

Build it and ride it where ever you want. It's only illegal if you get caught, (IMO) it's not like your using it to rob banks.
