2010 East Coast Rally at Cape Henlopen (Lewes) Delaware

Just checked on Google maps. 760 miles. It's a long trip for you but the rally is great!! I've been there the last 2 years.

Okay folks, it's just a little over two months until the rally, so I guess I should be handing out some information. Accomodations in the Lewes area can be pricey, but we have fared well with the Red Mill Inn which is about ten minutes from the park. Rooms have been adequate, they are pet-friendly if you're bringing any dogs and they allow just a one-night stay. Most hotels in the area require a minimum two night stay. Here's the number: (302) 645-9736.
Cape Henlopen State Park has a campground, if that's the course of action you may be considering. You may contact the park at (302) 645-2103.
Last year we started handing out awards. We only came up with two ideas for awards (because it was done at short notice - I didn't think of it until 10 mdays before the event). We had the "People's Choice Award" and the "Greatest Distance Travelled" award. I'd like to have a few more for this year, but I'm having brain lock and can't come up with much. Does anyone out there have any ideas for award categories?

Good news rally riders! The Irish Eyes Pub & Restaurant is back open again, so we can do a ride-out for lunch (or dinner) as we did in 2008. Sadly, the Irish Eyes suffered a fire in December 2008 and wasn't open last year when we had our rally. Ironically when we were there in 2008 it had just reopened from having had a fire in March of 2007. Here's the link: http://www.irisheyespub.com/index.asp
Looking at their menu I could go for some Beef & Guiness Stew or some Bangers and Mash...

I plan on attending.

I can also recommend the Beacon Motel near the beach, old downtown Lewes, and the Irish Eyes restaurant. It is also close to Cape Henlopen Park.

It is more expensive, but it is very nice and well located.

It's fun for everyone to stay at the same place because we always have a big party & chat time at the hotel Saturday evening. Also, I always bring a gallon of my famous homemade wine :) The Red mill Inn is a nice place & close to the park. But I'm open to what the group wants. It's good to book early. Last year they had a big NASCAR race there & barely got rooms.

I just checked out the Beacon Motel website, and it looks pretty nice. However, the one night (weekend) room rate for September is $155.
I haven't called for rates at the Red Mill Inn yet, but last year's rate on a race weekend was $95 if I remember correctly.

If I also remember correctly, the Chinese restaurant won't deliver there anymore...
