Planning on buying a Wildfire Motorbike off of a guy that I hooked up with on Craiglist. He was planning on starting a dealership and then, due to health issues (late 70's) had to forfeit his dealership. He has stock that he's getting rid of and I "THINK" I'm getting these bikes at a good price. I know very little about them and DO know that Wildfire products don't always get the greatest of reviews. Just wondering if anyone else has purchased one of these bikes and if so, if there's anything I should know about them in advance. Thanks in advance to all responses. Pics of the bike are included.

srdavo - Thank you for the VERY helpful link. It was extremley useful I feel, in helping me make an informed decision about a potential purchase. There was some indications referencing the "idlers". Hasn't this been our (as MB enthusiests) over the years, collective achilles' heal? As MB's grow in popularity, I think the onslought of pre-fabs will eventually have to address this if we are to be taken seriosly on the market Vs. Scooters and Mopeds. The board has (once again) proven golden in providing fast, literate feedback. Thank you brothers.

The generator type headlight on that bike is about useless on a motorized bike. Plan on buying a much better light. Good lights start at about $150.00 retail. Look on eBay. I bought a brand new $150.00 light for $50.00 including shipping. Those lights don’t emit enough light to give you reaction time at any speed above peddling, if even that. Just a fore warning.

Thanks for the info. I have a bullet headlight sitting in my garage that is still in it's box. runs on 2 D cells. I'll probably just end-up attaching it. Fortunatley, this bike will primarily be ridden during the day so it won't be too much of an isssue. I'm only buying the thing as back-up bike to my two other bikes anyway. Hopefully, they'll be up and running before too long. Thanks again.

I should have mentioned those lights will somewhat help you been seen by others, but they are not suitable for night driving as far as you being able to see. My bike has lights galore on it. Handlebars, rear flashers w/brake lights and lights on the wheels. I man talked to me about my bike at a local store one night. He said he had seen me before and that I was well visible and there would be no excuse for anyone hitting me and saying they didn't see me. Good luck, have fun and be safe !

Could be. I know absoloute jack about pre-fabs. My (limited) experience
has been JUST with the ultra custom stuff. The bike that you're referring to...
Any problems I need to be made aware of?...

I think one of the guys here has a wildfire bike, and the reason was that it came with a number the DMV would accept, and allow it to be registered as a moped. Without a number, we can't register it in NY.
