Want to build a chopper, but how?

Problem is, I cant really find a schwinn chopper anywhere. I guess I'll keep looking. Thanks guys.

What other suggestions do you guys have for bikes? I want something that at least resembles a chopper..

Also, I need this to go up some decent sized hills. is this possible?

how steep you talking? On my way to work, I go up a moderately steep hill, and while my bike (66cc, stock drive sprocket, upgraded air filter) doesn't go FAST up the hill, it makes it up the hill eventually (probably 10-15 MPH). I don't know the angle of the grade (15 or less I would guess), but I DO know that when I try to drive up the hill in front of my apartment building, the grade is steep enough to starve the engine of fuel. THAT hill is pretty steep-- I'd guess in the ballpark of 45 degrees... it's not very tall (six feet?), and if I GUN it, I can make it without stalling

but I've heard people having problems with the engine stalling on 10 degree inclines

well, you could always pick up a stingray styled frame (like an olde stingray...not an occ stingray) and chop the head tube to lay it back. this will give the forks some chopper rake. then you can buy some chrome chopper forks (24" or 30") off e-bay for about $50.00 and put them on the frame.
the problem is if you are able to cut the head tube off, and re-weld it so that it's not only at the right angle, but straight and strong.
another thing you could do is just keep your eyes open for a chopper bicycle (craigslist is a good place to find them cheap). you just have to be patient and watch constantly and wait for one to be listed on there.

I have no idea of what skills you have, so it's tough to tell you what you can do.
there are people who can make their own frames from a pile of steel tubing, and there are other people who don't know how to tighten a chain.

by the way, my occ chopper has a 41 tooth rear sprocket. it climbs hills good without loosing speed. there are 2 big hills in my neighborhood,..maybe 20-30 degree inclines, and they are both about 150 feet long. my chopper climbs them with no problem at about 15-20 mph without loosing any speed. My bike tops put at around 32 mph on flat ground with me on it (i am 5'6" and weigh 150 pounds).

I'm learning how to weld at school later this year, but as of right now, no welding. Other than that, I'm very mechanically inclined.

Are there any other bikes that resemble choppers?
