I sold a bike with a 58cc Starfire motor to a policeman last week.
He'd lost his license and will be driving a desk for the next 6 months. :D:D
This put a smile on my face that will be there for a few days.

haha thats heaps funny. im in adelaide and its fkn *** when you see cops. you have to switch of ur motor and pretend to pedal lol.

He bought the motorised bike because he lost his car license so I guess the law does apply to all.
Yes, I read that in your OP. There are a number of things that can result in a lost license, so I'll not speculate as to why he lost it. I would, however, bet a substantial sum that he got byes on whatever the offensive behavior was from fellow officers several times before he ever got done for it. I'd also bet that, should he be stopped for operating an illegal powered bike he'll produce his police ID and NOT get ticketed.

I don't know how it works in Australia, but in America cops are allowed to use ANY vehicle necessary for the performance of their duties, which includes getting to work. It can be uninspected, unregistered, uninsured/underinsured, off road, etc. Now, this doesn't apply to off-duty cops, but if an off-duty cop witnesses a crime he does have jurisdiction to pursue a suspect, so the exception would apply in that case as well.
