4 G T-Belt one-way bearing trashed.

:DJust thought I would let you know what I ended up with. I tried a second one way bearing and it lasted about 20 miles (these are trash) the co. I got the kit from says they will have the new improved version available after Christmas. I found a 100 tooth pulley with no bearing (2009 version as ocscully mentioned) and it does fit but finding a belt was not easy. Played with some v-belts but getting tight enough not to slip to much puts to much stress on the set up to get the warm fuzzy feeling. It (100 tooth with T-belt)changed the gearing enough that with out changing the rear sproket I couldn't climb my favorite hill without a good running start. My final fix is in the picture attached. I AM NOT A WELDER! It aint pretty but it works fine. What is the reason for the one way bearing any way, other than selling replacments and ****ing me off. Thanx for all the help, I am on the road, done with this one and ready for the next project (a family trike build).

Those of you who have been patiently waiting to get the new improved one-way brg. for the SkyHawk 4G - 80T belt drive 4 cycle transmission should now contact your selling dealer and ask for a N/C sample bearing. We have sent all of our 4G WD's some new design sample bearings to test and confirm. These new brgs. have twice the lock torque rating and have an improved seal design that does not pop out like the plastic seals do. We are anxious to know if these new one-way bearings correct the problem encounterd with early production units. Your technical data feed back is welcomed. Unfortunately we are not allowed to ride bicycles with gas engines on them on city streets in China so our test efforts are hampered. Bearing installation with an arbor press is recommended by pressing on the outer race into the 80T pulley brg. cavity. When installing on the shaft press on the inner race. After installing make sure the pulley is turning in concentricity with the brg. and has no wobble. When riding your bike we recommend a pedal assited gradual throttle start rather than a sudden full throttle from a dead start. Thank you for your understanding and patience. Merry Christmas;

An improved version of the the one way bearing will be available soon as a free replacement from the dealer you purchased your kit from.

When riding a 4G you will always need a one way bearing so that your chain can freewheel separate from the belt. If you didn't have it you would ruin your belt the first time you accelerated and then let off the gas. This is because your wheel mounted drive sprocket continues to spin and move the chain as long as the tire is spinning. If your wheel is spinning at one RPM and your belt at another, then something has to give. The only instance where it would not be necessary is if you had a heavy duty rear drive sprocket with a freewheel.

Previous models contained the one way bearing in the 11 tooth drive sprocket of the transmission. I think the reason they moved it to the 80 tooth on the other side of the tranny had something to do with the tension/stress that it put on the belt when accelerating and decelerating. However, as you well know, they didn't make it heavy duty enough. The new one should solve the problem.

Lemont1: If you don't have a one way bearing in your setup, I don't see your belt lasting more than one ride. Perhaps you have a one on the 11 tooth sprocket or on the rear wheel sprocket?

Stan4D: I thought that Grubee post was deemed as Spam and removed?

No, you are misinformed. I quoted it here to let others know as a courtesy. If there is a problem I can remove all references to it and leave the consumers hurting.

Sounds good.Will you be selling parts to switch the honda 4g set up to the new 10t non freewheel and the 80t pulley.I have sent many unanswered emails..

Guess I am still confused. If you banned the member for inappropriate content of the post in reference, then why would you repost it as useful information? I have read the forum rules announcement as well as the vendor rules and I see the point you are making--didn't follow the outlined procedure for a first post--just seems a little drastic. I certainly don't have a problem with it (I didn't ban anyone) as I think it is helpful relevant information to the members that have this model. If a free replacement on a defective part is not appropriate content for this forum, then I'm not sure what is.
 
I am new to these set ups but when you let off the throttle, the shoes contract in the clutch bell and dis-engages the motor from the drive. Will this not act as a free-wheel? I have 60 miles on the bike since I welded over the one way bearing with no problems other than the headlight falling off and me running over it at 35 mph (thought I was done) but that was my fault.
 
Oh. If the guy I bought the kit from reads this I would still like to get a "free" sample of this new one way bearing to try out Allthough I will need a new 80 tooth pully as I welded the last one! Ha!
