Hello. I'm a motored bike noob, but I'm good with taking things apart and putting them back together.

I have Huasheng motor. Don't really know specifics. Its an automatic.

I was wondering if it was possible to replace the pull start with an electric starter.

Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas? I have looked it up and found quite a few electric starter motors on e-bay. I even found some ignition switch assemblies with keys.

it all adds weight and slower speeds on some specially starter bat where would you put it i dont want no extra attention to me or my bike it might be the wrong knid not talking cops im talking theft they love stuff like this specialy if it is really tricked out discreet is the key

I'm not aware of one but if there was I'd bet it would stick out farther than the pull starter, and that would make the set up a bit unwieldy.

Well, I was thinking of mounting a starter motor on the rear of the frame behind the engine and using a belt attached to the pull start assembly.

Now assuming that's possible, I'd need a battery and an alternator or something to charge it right?. That's the only part I haven't figured out.

Well, if you could do something like the Briggs starter it might work but the cost of the machine work, unless you do it yourself, would be much more than it's worth. You would need to find a way to engage the clutch gear and it's heilical cut and not straight cut. You think these little motors are noisy now try it with straight cut gears :p You'd have a whine like a supercharged small block Chevy ;)

The Briggs I have with a starter is for 110 volts AC but, of course, there's 12 volt DC ones you can get. I'd try a lawn mower repair place for a starter to start with so your not out too much money.

Belt on a starter...dunno about that... Starters have what is called a Bendix which is a solonoid that moves a gear to engage the starter ring gear. When the key is let off the starter gear moves back out of the way so there is no contact with the starter drive so it doesn't turn when the motor is running. A pulley idler would be a way but then you'd be dealing with a slipping belt that would introduce drag into the system.

The White wire on your motor is a 6 volt source. I've been looking into a regulator/battery setup for lights. I have seen on eBay a booster coil you add on to get 12 volts. That's why I've been putting off getting a headlight. I think I want a 12 volt system, I need more power for my sub-woofer:rolleyes:
