Hello from San Diego

heheheh, I've been to the Black Rock Desert many times but not for the Burning Man..I go there to fly High Power rockets :D and I'm going again this September for a launch called XPRS. I have no idea if that means anything:rolleyes:

Awesome...I to have been going to the Playa long before I even heard about BurningMan, I used to live in the Redding area and I would go to the Black Rock Desert to land sail. The wind is kinda unpredictable there, but when its on, its alot of fun, good times :)

That's cool:cool: I've thought about building a land sailer to take to Black Rock. Then, if the wind is calm I fly rockets. If the wind is blowing(like it is most of the time:mad: ) I sail and get the best of both worlds....

....hummmm....mebby rig the bike with a sail........

Hey Dave, you ever go out to Ocotillo Wells (half hill dry lake) to do your rockets? I own property on Half Hill dry lake and I see groups of rocketeers out there about a half a dozen times during the desert season. They seem to be a well orginized group, but they fly the smaller to medium sized rockets, not the real big stuff that you seem to do. I love watching the kids running like crazy to try and catch the rockets before they hit the ground, good times.
I actually started landsailing as a secondary hobby to flying untralite aircraft, when it was calm we would fly, when to windy to fly we would landsail. Soon after, landsailing took the #1 spot, it is a blast. My ultralite is long gone, but I still have my landsailer, lots of fun, cheers!

Nope, but I know of them. It's too far to drive for little rockets. I fly with a group here in Boise. The fly about 2.5 miles from the Snake River Canyon rim above Swan Falls dam. I like Black Rock because you can fly there with the highest altitude windows allowed by the FAA. Sometimes another government agency has oversite, the AST, the Administrator for Space Travel:cry:
