shake down run

Took her out for it's first run (3 mi). Float is sticking and lost master link on chainring chain. Was able to ride home under power. Seems to ride and handle very well.

DIY Bike Rack for the BTR

Just didn't trust the strap on bike rack, so I built a hitch rack for it.

That is great, J!

Did you do all the fabrication?
Paintwork looks great, metal forming must have been a LOT of fun!!! and the faux crankcase supporting the motor is really neato !
Gosh, and the headlight!

Can we get some more dialogue out of you, J ? :)

Very nice work...

...and that springer !
I'd really enjoy learning how to build springer and girder front ends for bicycles.
Would you post a close-up pf the springer ? (or two???)
:)

Yes I did all fabrication in my basement work shop. It was a winter project. The springer fork was part of the original girls rollfast bike.
Actually I bought the bike because I liked the spring fork, as it turns out it is a pain in the butt. I will keep it for the look. The paint is gas/oil resistant spray can paint. The original bike cost $34, then it was just a matter of cutting bending & welding. The head light cost $34 also on ebay auction.
The crankcase still has a little work to be done.
I am making cooling fins that will make the cylinder twice it's length, for that early 1900's look. Thx for the feedback.
