There's a build thread in the other forum. In short, he's run into a couple issues (brakes needed adjustment, chain is difficult to align, etc.) but looks like it's do-able, just not the easiest build. I've got the 29" Genesis cruiser and am adding a rear wheel friction drive. A friction drive would probably be easy on the mtb, although you'd probably want to change the tires.

most frame mounts use the left side for the drive. did you want to have to mix the gas or use strait gas? use a two stroke with offset intake manitfold and a expansion pipe exhaust.

what kit did you get for the genesis build?

I've just acquired a rather inexpensive mountain bike from Walmart:

I'm having a little difficulty finding a kit for this bike, I'd like a frame mount with a chain drive. Notice that the derailer is on the right side of the bike as well.

Has anyone mounted a motor onto a bike with 29 inch wheels?

Thanks,
-Morb
I have I got a Genesis 29er and after a few adjustments it works great. But it wasn't easy. Getting the chain on without touching anything was the biggest problem

I had to spread the chain stays out further then I added 2 extra nuts on the inside of the chain stay on the axle on the chain side so it wouldn't rub on the fat tire or the chain stay. The chain wore a small grove in the metal but it's not much

One of the main reasons I chose the 29er was for the disk brake. Makes all the difference at high speeds
I had bought the same bike but it doidn't have the front disc brake set up so i had to order the adapter :D
Good bike though. I've put over 600 miles on this one so far.
I had to do some heating and bending to the lower rear frame arms to get everything to align properly though, so it can be done.
Right now i have a ZEDA80 with the 50mm sleeved cylinder and it seems to just keep humping like a mad dog up hills :)
Anyway, good luck with your build and post pics for us to drool over :p
