i was replacing the head gasket on my kit and a few peices fell on top of the piston, the engine seemed to fire up just fine, do i have to worry? will it damage my engine? btw i was using cork gasket material

What kind of a engine are you running? Cork shouldn't hurt. If it gets in the way it will be ground up, now a metal gasket is another story. We, years ago, had cork valve cover gaskets, and at times it was almost impossible to keep it out of the head and down to the oil.

why are you using a cork head gasket?
the headgasket should be steel.
cork won't hold up to the heat and compression.
