hi i recently bough beach cruiser with 48cc canada motor from a pawn shop, big mistake. the engine started leaking and needless to say i should have just gotten a new kit and bike and assembled my self. so i bought a 80cc from motovelo and i would not recomend in the future. i installed engine and it runs fine as long as i am rolling and do not have clutch engaged. well if i engage my clutch it kills engine. how would i make it to wear once its on it stays on till engine stalls or kill switch

My engine NEVER used to idle when I clutched it until I completely rebuilt it myself. . Was never a problem for 3000 kilometres +

Do you really need it to run while clutched? You don't really want to slip the clutch on start off on these things, and killing it when coming to a halt will save wear on your clutch pads, then just pedal off and rollstart again.

yes i would like it to so i can warm it up before i take it on a ride. winter is coming and it already does not run well when cold

Clutch?

Sorry CM 2929, You seem to be getting advice from every NEWBIE on the site. When you pull IN your clutch handle, your engine should release from the rear wheel and you should "coast". If it is dragging to a stop it sounds to me like you need to adjust your clutch. But your not real clear. Can you push the bike freely, with engine OFF, when you pull IN the clutch lever?
I've been building Motorized for five years and have about 50 builds behind me. I also run a small Motorized Bike business. So please get back to me and we'll get this worked out for you. Clutch and carb adjustments are the easy stuff.
Big Red.

Yes cloud, You really want the clutch to slip some starting off from a stop. It makes for an easier and much more pleasant ride. When releasing the clutch to start the engine you want it to grab and not slip at all. But pedeling to start the engine with the clutch already engaged is just silly. The pads are meant to wear, That's why they sell new ones. I weigh 230lbs and my pads last at least a year or more. And, at about $10.00 it's not a lot to spend once a year. I would assume that if you only weigh 150-180lbs your pads would last even longer. Starting a bike with no clutch after EVERY stop sign is also gonna be a real pain. So lets try to give the guy good advice and get the bike working properly.
