Chain keeps breaking

My chain keeps breaking. My theory is that it comes off the rear sprocket because there is a lot of sideways pull on the chain by the idler in order to get around a thick wheel.
My first idea for a solution is to space the rear sprocket farther away from the spokes in order to remove the sideways pull on the chain.
Any ideas of what I could use for spacers / Any other suggestions as to how I could fix this problem?

Check out google search for 7 speed dearailer adjustment and youl find a video tutorial. Thats what I did. I didnt know about it before know I got it down.

Seems to me the solution is a smaller cross section tire and better chain alignment.
I suppose you could tweak the spoke setting to move the wheel over away from the chain.

The other day I was just doing a final test on my SBP 4 stroke shift kit and I was going to fast as I needed to adjust the breaks. So anyway I could'nt down-shift in time to stop at a red light.
So I made a mistake while I was stopped to try and down-shift all the way. My chain broke when I took off.
My stuff is all brand new.
What condition is your stuff in? Another rim would allow you to conduct a test were you could compaire the possable wear on the internal parts of the rim.
Another way to see the play in the internal parts of the rim is to just use the front freewheel in reverse spinning the chain backwards while watching the rear sproket turn looking for the amount of movement.
Even mine being new has some play and there is minimal movement from side to side.

I wanted to try spacing out the sprocket before buying a whole new tire, because I should be able to get it to run with a standard 26 inch tire. but if worst comes to worst...

Its all brand new. I'm not using a shift kit though, its just a standard clutch. Is the shift-kit a "frame-mounted drive-train"?

The shift kit flips the drive train to the other side to the actual bikes chain.
Mayby your chain is snagging. Try to run tests so you can watch it and not ridding it.
Is it the master link thats comming apart or just random links?

I hate to do this to you but I weight like 240 and I bend axle's.

Take the rim off and check and see if your axle's bent.

I checked the axle and its fine. Its not the master link, its random links... and it always breaks next to the sprocket. There are indentations on the sprocket screws from the chain rubbing against them which means that it breaks AFTER it comes off the sprocket. This suggests that it is somehow being pulled off the sprocket.

From what I think your getting aqt its the front sproket chain guard screws? Are all the teeth on the sprockets streight.
If those are the screws your talking about I'd try to remove the chaingaurd.
