How far at any one time

wow 200 plus pounds of stuff in a trailer + the weight of the trailer, bike and rider?
hope you got some good brakes to stop it.

or until ya bum hurts too much...
I ride my MB all day, every day now...with the Relax 2 I talk about in this thread...

... and my bum never hurts. The "pads" might seem just a hair too spaced apart for some, but once you scoot it back with the adjustable rails, I have found nothing that compares.

I haven't actaully ridden with this seat on my rigid frame bike, tho... so I don't know how that feels, but it's definitely the best I've found so far. Only problem is... are you willing to pay $250 or so for a bicycle seat from a German company and wait the 2 or 3 weeks to get it??

It was worth it for me...

That's exactly what I was thinking, especially in urban areas and on asphalt. I was on old abandoned sand and stone roads and the speed had to be kept low even if the trailer wheels hadn't been bent by the weight and the uneven surfaces. With those sand roads, you just start slowing down fast as soon as you let off of the gas. On asphalt it would be a real problem to slow down in time, and keep those brakes in good shape. I covered 50 km of those bad roads before reaching asphalt and go another 50 km to the town where the train stops. I had about 50lbs on the baggage rack and almost that much on my back and I was just nursing along as slow as I could. I still bent the back rim so badly that three spokes are loose now. I had a cut in the side of the tire from a brake pad rubbing it because my rim was deformed majorly in one spot, so I was afraid to inflate it too much, but afraid to bottm the rim out on stones and steep potholes. Anyway I made it back somehow...

I also had problems with the trailer tipping over on it's side, that's why I mentioned widening the wheel base. I was on really uneven roads in places though, with boulder parts sticking up out of the ground in the road. So if you are going off road with kids, you should design a much wider wheel base with spring suspension and maybe even shock absorbers. They'll be glad about it ;)
