i took off my happy time engine as it didnt make me to happy any more .Starting to get old has 3000 mile on it from its long life of 3 yrs and 2 different bikes. First i gotta say the dax friction drive is awesome very maintnence free set it and forget it. Ok the bike a huffy cran brick . the motor a monster motor 49cc 2 stroke . a dax friction drive . A 216 pound lard but like me. Honestly instead of motorbiking this trip i should be pedaling it. But i get enough exercise all the time at work i work on barges and inspect grain elevaters . any way in the process of pitting front brakes on it to go along with the coaster brakes . i did a few pics to show what i got so here they are. As you can see i left the unhappy time tank on there it is getting ready to get a long hose attached to it with a new filter to use to hold rxtra fuel for longer rides. And the water bottle is gonna be used for just that water. And i got a back pack to use for other stuff this is all gonna happen around spring .I'm gonna order a few extra engines for this bike. Nothing wrong with what i got just want a few spares and probally order a few extra friction kits from dax.

If things work out good i will use it for longer trips and as i go might look into a little trailer to haul stuff in like a bob trailer or someting similer ............

wbuttry,
Nice ride!
How are you liking the one-way roller on that DAX kit?
I was tinking about getting a roller like that for my BMP but wanted some input 1st.
Thanks for sharing

The one way roller is awesome it really works good. Let off the gas and then it goes into coast mode .It is easy to pedal with the friction drive down cause you dont have the whole mess turning. Just the roller the clutch bell doesnt turn very often. It works very good wet also. Just a little lighter on the throttle on take off . And to be honest i really dont want a happy time kit really any more I love the simplicity of friction drive it will either run or it wont .Any way i still have to ht kits. Not very dependable going very far with friction drive no vibration no chains to come off I would love to see how far i could really go on one and i still havent got more fuel line for the happy time tank to extend distance gotta get it real soon ...

That's a cool bike. It is nice that the set-up is very simple and low maint. I have never driven a friction drive motorbike. The drawbacks I see are (1) tire ware, I bet you go through tires fast. and (2) all the weight is on one side of the bike. Do you notice a big difference between right and left turns? How is the balance on that thing?

I took "The Dragon Lady" on a 50-mile jaunt once. It had twin Mitsubishi engines on friction drive, front and rear. A fluke accident blew out the rear tube ANNND tire 20 miles from home. I carried spare tubes but not a tire, so my riding partner brought his truck and carried the bike home.

Make sure you carry tools and spare tubes.

actually tyler it doesnt eat up tires at all i have had it for 3 months and pretty much ride it everyday not a problem at all with it you snug it down like it is suppose to and it doesnt slip at all here is a video that i did on it today just watch it tyler and you will see it is awesome and yes low maint is always a plus im 38yrs old and 220 so if it will pull my big but around it will do good for anybody else but here is the link http://www.youtube.com/user/wbuttry1?feature=mhee#p/a/u/0/Dq-tJXZfRmw and 5-7 heaven i use thorn proof tubes and thick plastic tire liners so far knock on wood no flats at all ........................

Nice video. I'm a bit surprised that the tires don't wear down quicker with pressure on the road and the drive grip I would expect the tire tread to burn down faster than a chain driven config. It looks like you can make the turns ok even if the engine weight is all on the left side. Can you lean into the turns ok? I have just a standard chain driven direct drive 2 stroke on my 21 speed mountain bike. Its my first motorized bicycle but its super fun to ride around town. I have to say, that 4 stroke looks better.

tyler i love these things and the best part they are totally legal. And you can go any where on them. These things are very fun and good transportation I ride mine every day. And if you do decide to go with something like this know this. Dax has a chain drive with these type motors. I think you would like them and .You use the rear sprocket already on your bike for your 2 stroke bike and these are auto clutches not manuel look at his website thatsdax.com and look inkits section and look for chain drive and it is there
