I just picked up an original 48 Whizzer. The engine will be going to Quenton for overhaul & performance work. I'll post as the work is done. I'm not going to restore it because it's in very good condition.

Here's some pictures of the unusual handlebars & throttle controls. The handlebars are low like drag bars but do have curves in them. maybe one of the Whizzer experts knows more about them. It also has a speedometer that works.

Hi Jay,

I actually made space on my workbench to work on your new "rocker-ship". I located a German needle bearing crankshaft [in my parts bins] that I just had upgraded [new bearings & pin].

I also found a new Mikuni carburetor in stock I was going to use on another project, however I think it should be on your project.

Also located an original high compression head that I plan on milling and reworking later today for your bike.

Have fun,

Oh boy, the fun has started & the engine's not even there yet. I'm going to pull it out & box it today.

Jay,
That's a beautiful bike! The low riser handlebars gives your bike a completely different look, one I've never seen before on the Whizzer. It gives it that racer look without the severe drastic downsweep more seen on the board track racers. Good luck with her!
Take Care,
Mike

Motor is now on the workbench!

It is going to be very over-square, and should rev higher than most vintage Whizzer motors.

I think, as we discussed, I will use a vintage "bored out" Tillotson carburetor instead of the Mikuni. The Tillotson was removed from a Cushman Eagle motor, bore increased, and has the major advantage of the adjustable main jet.

Is it the carb you showed me at Portland last summer.
