Tips for bending muffler

Anyone have a good way to bend the muffler for a GT5? Is there a way to modify the pedal to allow more clearance?

quite easy. mark muffler, work out how far and where to bend, hold end somehow (bench vise, 5/8 bolt sticking out the wall, the handle of some heavy equipment, whatever) and lug on the muffler towards the mark... trial fit, rinse and repeat if required...

Do not do while muffler is installed on the engine!!!!! I use a vice and heat.

do not try to bend the pipe while the muffler is attached to the engine (as al already said) because you will break the mounting studs off of the cylinder.
the best and easiest way that i've found, is to use a vice, and lots of heat on the pipe.
I've bent a few stock pipes and mufflers this way, but since then, I've gone to making custom exhaust for both of my bikes.

Thanks everyone!! I bought a propane torch and a vise. I modified the muffler and it fits great. I was even able to put the EPA shield on. Can anyone explain how this EPA shield helps??

unless its INSIDE the pipe, and contains catalysts such as rhodium or platinum...it doesnt

unless its a spark arrestor, which may be required over in the US... not here

epa shield?
are you referring to the outer shield that screws to the muffler body?
if that's what you're talking about, that's just a heat shield and has nothing to do with the epa.
These exhausts don't come with spark arrestors, but they do have a thing in the muffler that's supposed to be a cateletic converter.
in my opinion, this cat. converter thing does nothing exceot trap oil and plug the muffler up.
here's what one looks like, I removed mine and left it out on bith of my bikes.
The exhaust flows a little better with this peice removed.

Shield (EPA)? "Shield" tells me that the shield you mention attaches to the outside of the curved exhaust pipe. Some (not all) exhaust pipes have two nuts wielded to screw the shield on...it's a heat shield..hopefully it will stop your leg from burning is it comes into contact with the exhaust pipe. One needs to be more concerned with leg contact with the cylinder head. That sucker gets HOT :>(
