Or is it the base jug gasket that is blowing out ???!!! A good friend of mine owns a flojet and was going to ask him if he could make them and if they would be just as good as the China ones ......I mean what is it doing that everyone says they go bad !!! Yes, I use Permatex gasket sealer or Aluminum paint on head gaskets. Indian Head on all others.

Maybe, but I wouldn't, most likely too much heat on the head gasket and I think it will ooze out under pressure.. see above

Depending on what someone says "blow. My first blown gasket was BLOWN , not leaking, and can't be used.
Now I call this head gasket "BLOWN", not just leaking. Although a leaking gasket can at times be reused.

When a gasket is blown like this, the area where it is blown is thinner the the rest of the gasket and hard to seal.

I've never had a "BLOWN" bass gasket, but they can leak.

A few things that can be done (really needs to be done) First mill the head flat, second is to use proper torque on the head nuts. Torque is 120 to 175 INCH POUNDS (on 8mm studs). I use at least 150. This goes along with upgrading the studs to Metric 8.8 and nuts. Trash the acorn nuts.

Hope these answers your questions.

I ordered the head stud kit from SBP and just waiting for them !What would recommend to torque the rest of the bolts and screws on these motors !! I did get an allenhead and stud kit for it ! I do have a inch pound torque wrench .

Hey Al are you using the copper stuff for the head
gasket also ??!!

Yes, but in the past (60's) on ole Chevy blocks that has single steel gaskets I've used Aluminum paint. I was broke back then, today I use Permatex, been on the same can for 3+ years. That is the ONLY place I use it.
