Are these thing accepted well in Russia?

Scooters up to 50 cc are allowed to be driven by anyone 16 or older, no liscense or documentation required. The old motorized bicycles of the USSR have been all but forgotten. Some electric bikes are seen, more often than our fartocopter 2-strokers. So my bike always gets attention. Most people gaze with awe or...hmmm, now that would be nice to have in the country. You can see the new thread I started in this gallery with a video about the motorized bikes in the USSR. It's in Russian, but a picture is worth a thousand words. Scooters will soon be required to be used with a special drivers liscence and plates. But I'm going to keep driving my bicycle on the sidewalk and highway...just as a bicycle!)))

Here in California, the 2 strokes are ban from import. I still rode mine. But no sidewalk scooting allowed!

Whenever I pass a children stroller or a dog anywhere, I turn the engine off and pedal past. And if there's lot's of people on a sidewalk, then I'll switch it off. Last summer I packed it in a box and put it in the baggage wagon on a train going to the northern rainforests of Russia in Karelia. Lived in a remote forest area for 3 weeks and biked all around on old abandoned forest roads. An empty gas can that I had garbage picked came in quite handy for the trip. My rear wheel was all bent up at the end of the trip, barely rideable =-) But I made the 55 miles back to the town with the train station, washed it, removed the gas tank and wrapped it in garden plastic, tape and rope and submitted it back into baggage the day of my train out. No smell of gasoline was detected by personel, luckily ;-)

Here in California, the 2 strokes are ban from import. I still rode mine. But no sidewalk scooting allowed!

Banned from import to California, yes, but if you can get one and put it on your bike no ones gonna tell you to take it off. I built my last personal bike after the ban and have it registered. No one at DMV asked if it was a two stroke. So banned from import, yes. Illegal, no.

I know no body is going to say "Take that engine off, or else". But you may get told not to ride it. I have been seen by several officers while riding around, none have stopped me. I did not get mine registered. The D.M.V. sucks here in LA. Got to stand in line to be told to stand in another line, and after the 3rd and 4th line ,you find yourself back in the first line. Illegal to own, NO, To ride, frowned upon, Yes. I don't have a problem getting kits, I have family and friends in AZ & UT, just have to pay shipping twice. The law in CA on motorized bicycles / mopeds requires you have head & tail lamps, turn signals, be 50cc or less, not exceed 30mph. So mine WAS NOT legal. No lamps, (did not ride at night) 66cc, X-chamber, top speed of 38mph. I say "was" because it was stole 4 weeks ago. 3rd one in 3 years. Building bikes for other people (thieves) for free is getting old!

So don't stand in line. Fill out the form, send it in with a $18 money order and you'll get it back in a couple weeks. YEAH, I LIED on the form. My bike is over 50cc. BUT NO ONE CARES. I do have ALL the equipment required on it though, including a horn. The only thing different from a motorcycle is I didn't hook up high beams on the headlight. I don't ride like a madman, so the cops don't even look at me twice. If they do pull me over it's usually just to check out the cool bike.

P.S. NOWHERE in the California Vehicle code or the DMV website does it say anything about 2 strokes being "frowned upon".
