My wheel had loose spokes so I tightened them. After my next cruise the spokes were loose again. Finally I took the sprocket off the wheel and this is what I found, broken spokes. I am planning to use a sprocket adapter on my new 55 cruiser build. I'll be willing to bet they don't have one to fit this Trek 700 wheel. Guess I better go looking for another used cruiser. Just thought you guys might be aware if you try tightening spokes and they getting loose again you might have some broken spokes.

See if Staton will build one of there wheels on a 700c rim. Staton makes there own hubs for this purpose. You will have a left hand freewheel threaded onto the hub for driving the wheel. The hubs are made in several drillings. I would get a 48 spoked setup if possible.

I'd go with a Heavy Duty Wheel, and a Clamshell Hub . Rag Joints are bad news,The Clamshell is almost self indexing, can be filed for
greater accuracy, and evenly torques * all * spokes, making for a safer, and straighter, ride.

I have given up on the 700c wheels since I found these heavy duty Huffy wheels with 11G spokes and balloon tires. V 35 do you have a link on this clamshell hub?

Its not good when your wheel folds in half from loose spokes! I check mine every once in a while just to be safe!
