Hello all, I have been lurking and searching for a while now and need some help with my first build. I am going to college and looking to for reliable transportation that I can pedal. I have a few questions I hope you can help me with.

1. I want a 4 stroke (so its quiet), chain/timing belt drive (so I can ride in the rain) and I need it to be reliable. I am also not really wanting to spend more then 500ish on the kit, but willing to spend more if it is an easy install.

What kits are available? When I try to search all that comes up is cheap kits that people say are not reliable.

2. I don't understand what happens to the cranks on the bike when under engine power, do they spin or is there a freewheel somewhere?

3. I don't have a bike yet and am looking for suggestions, I've got around 300 to spend on the bike.

I could be wrong on everything I'm thinking so please feel free to tell me I'm being an idiot. I just want to do it right the first time so I am not on here in 2 months asking why my bike is broke. Thanks so much for the help!

Got just the thing for you...

Rain won't be a problem with this setup. We have very heavy rainstorms here in Florida and I ride in all the time and enjoy it. Just get good rain gear and waterproof boots. It's always rewarding when you get to your destination and everyone looks at you and thinks you're soaking wet. Then after pealing off your rain gear they see you're bone dry. :)

quick update here... I road in heavy rains 4 days this week and am blown away by this friction kits performance. I should go get a hat so I can take it off to Staton for their reliable friction kit and Specialized for their strong Armadillo tires. Of course I can't leave out Honda for their superb engine! A truly amazing motorized bicycle. Really it's a small motorcycle with pedals. Thanks for making quality products! You deserve every penny of profit.

4 Stroke.
You are a wise man, not an idiot!

This is the 4 stroke kit and it's only $380 + shipping.

Reliable, great mileage and they finally got it right with no free wheel
in the 100 tooth gear that was failing on previous kits.

The motor drives on the left side which is totally separate from the
pedal drive on the right.

For another $200 you could upgrade to a 4 stroke shifter kit from
Sick Bike Parts.
